The primary objective of the scheme is to improve the economic status of women in Uttarakhand by empowering them to become financially self-reliant and achieve the status of “Lakhpati Didis.”

About This Scheme

The scheme “Lakhpati Didi Yojana” is implemented by the Department of Rural Development, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme was launched by the Honorable Prime Minister of India with the primary objective of improving the economic status of women and enabling them to become Lakhpatis. Under this initiative, the Honorable Chief Minister of Uttarakhand has committed to enabling 1.5 lakh women members to achieve the status of Lakhpati Didis by 2025. As part of the scheme, the Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihood Mission has already recognized 40,270 women associated with self-help groups as Lakhpati Didis in 2022-23 and 52,729 women in 2023-24.

Benefits

Under this scheme, to brand and market the products manufactured by self-help groups, the Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihood Mission has established 17 Saras Centers, 2 state-level Uttara outlets, 24 Growth Centers, and 7 Millet Bakeries. Additionally, the groups’ products are sold at various Saras Melas, helping to increase their income and improve their livelihoods.

Eligibility Criteria

The beneficiary must be a resident of Uttarakhand.

The beneficiary must be a woman associated with a self-help group.

Women beneficiaries from hilly and plain areas, aged between 18 and 65 years, are eligible to avail the benefits of this scheme.

Women associated with self-help groups under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), who are engaged in various income-generating activities, are selected at the block level. Members of women’s groups whose annual income is less than ₹1 lakh are eligible for selection at the development block level.

For information regarding the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, assistance can be obtained from the District Mission Manager or District Thematic Expert at the district level, and the Block Development Officer or Block Mission Manager at the development block level.
