Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Ninaivu Marriage Assistance Scheme-1

The “Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Ninaivu Marriage Assistance Scheme-1” is a significant initiative by the Tamil Nadu government aimed at providing financial support to underprivileged families for the marriage of their daughters. Launched by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, this scheme is designed to facilitate the marriage of girls who have completed their education up to Class 10. It is a step towards empowering women and ensuring their financial security during marriage.

Overview of the Scheme

This scheme is administered by the Social Welfare Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Under its provisions, eligible brides receive financial aid amounting to ₹25,000 and an 8-gram gold coin. This assistance is targeted at marriages that take place from May 17, 2011, onwards. The primary aim is to ease the financial burden on families struggling with the costs associated with wedding ceremonies.

In many cultures, it is customary for brides to wear a gold “Thirumangalyam” during their wedding. The “Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Ninaivu Marriage Assistance Scheme-1” is part of a broader set of five marriage assistance schemes launched by the Tamil Nadu government, which not only supports families in marrying off their daughters but also encourages the education of girls until they reach the appropriate age for marriage.
